309 rooms, 6 tennis courts (2 lighted), 4 conference rooms, 2 restaurants, 2 shops, pool, spa, keiki (children's) pool, free fitness room, Nintendo, free hi-speed Internet access in rooms, coin-op laundry room, free room safe, empty fridge, coffee makers in room with free coffee daily, valet parking, health spa. Originally built in 1970 (but renovated in 2007), the hotel borders Kahalu'u Beach on one side and a tide-pool on another. The grounds are nice and include the remains of three heiau. Many of the rooms have nice views. The oceanfront rooms are worth every penny. They're the only rooms on the Big Island directly over the water. Just look down, and you may see turtles and eels swimming in the shallow tide-pool. Other rooms are nice for the money. South facing rooms have silly little square bathtubs, while north facing rooms have showers only and views that may be dominated by the roof of the restaurant. For the location, it's a great deal. Their Verandah Lounge is a truly kickin' place to have a sunset cocktail. Parking is $7 whether you use the valet or park it yourself. Local calls are a buck. Rooms (420 sq. ft.) are $279-$439. Their one-bedroom suite (758 sq. ft.) is $609. Ask for their “Breakfast with a View,” which will get room rates of $130-$190, which includes a full buffet breakfast. Wow!
